For some reason when i press the lock button on the driver door it locks down all the doors except the passenger door. The passenger door locks then for some reason immediately unlocks. Any idea why this is happening? If I use the remote locking feature on my key all the doors lock/unlock fine including the passenger door.

Very odd indeed. I would get vagcom connected up and check the circuits.

My car has a similar problem, when i lock the doors with either the fob or the key the drivers door and rear passenger door more often than not, lock then unlock themselves, it normally takes me at least 5-10 attempts with the fob to get them all locked!

    Any ideas anybody??

    Cheers

    Hi,

My friend's T reg Bora V5 had a similar problem at one point - when locking the car with the remote, the front passenger door was locking, then unlocking immediately - bouncing straight back up.

It may have had something to do with the feature whose name slips my mind now, but which disables the handles inside when you arm the alarm, as with the remote it often exhibited this problem, but when just locking the doors with just the key (which I think doesn't arm the alarm), it worked I believe.

Sorry not to be more clear, but it was about 4 years ago now!

In any case, when using the remote flick key, he had to unlock and lock the car with the remote until it locked and stayed down... And I think it got worse and worse until he couldn't stand it any more and took it to VW who replaced the lock in that door for some hundred or two poundage type figure - which resolved the problem.

If you only have the problem in one door, I would suggest that it's most likely that lock...

If you have the problem in multiple doors, then there is more to think about I would think:
    - if it started in one door and you put up with it, then the problem pread to others over time, then I guess it could still be locks
    - if it started in lots of doors all at the same time, then I'd say it's likely to be something wrong with the wiring - like a leak in a place you'd rather didn't have one, or whatever module that controls the central locking...

Not a mechaninc, but that's my tuppence hapenny's worth.
