So now the new switch 6Q0 927 189 was fitted, not difficult, put it in the bracket with the narrow projection on one side and the wide on the other rotated it until it clicked, deleted fault code and all was well for a couple of weeks----- until yesterday, now I have the same symptoms as I had with the original switch but worse, now I have to press the clutch pedal as many as ten times before it starts and of course I am concerned that it might not start when I am far from home. I do not know what to do. The metal bracket into which the switch is fitted seems solid, the electric plug fitted well into the switch, no sign of play. Any ideas???????

This issue has me really concerned, to have a car which I cannot be sure will start, can I really drive it as normal with that worry. Chewing this over it struck me that the problem may be similar to the high level brake light problem I had with our A4 and A6. It was the plug not making good contact. When the brake light would not work, I bought a brand new unit. Installed it in the car, it wouldn't work, the connections within the plug are very fine, but after I put copper dust in the plug and later fine copper wire to get a better connection between the male and female sides it worked and is still working. The male pins in the clutch switch are thicker than the pins in the brake light, but I wonder if there is where the problem lies, and there was nothing wrong with the original clutch switch which I replaced, just the connection between the switch and the plug. Would it be possible to order a new plug and if so can anyone say what the part number might be so I can order one?

I am sorry but that is a bit out of my geriatric range of knowledge. But since it would not start after pressing the clutch a dozen times, the next day and since it has started each time. I hate random faults, you never know if and when it will happen again.

I had that with a 2018 Passat 1.4T last week, car threw a wobbly hundreds of miles away (we did the turbo a few days before) but when dropped off nothing wrong except dozens of voltage codes, I changed the main power relay and fingers crossed and thankfully just a random coincidence to the work we did.
