I was just doing a few checks and I happen to open oil cap and smell it. Definitely petrol . The car was still warm having driven motorway. And although my oil was changed 2months ago the oil still looked light brown . This is my first petrol car after years of diesel but surely oil will be dark by now after 2000miles odd!

Could be overfulling but you would get the MIL on. Petrol engine oil does stay cleaner compared to fuel of the Devil.

Might be the seal(s) in the High Pressure Petrol Pump presuming the 3.0l engine has one (there are 2 in the 4.0l engine). This pump is driven by a cam shaft in the engine in addition to the lift pump in the fuel tank. Seals leak, fuel gets into the oil- for the RS6 there are seal kits available so might be a fairly cheap fix (by mechanic) rather than having to buy a new pump. As I say not sure if the 3.0 has a cam driven high pressure pump (i suspect all TFSI engines do though)
