Just getting rid of a Golf Mk3 tdi due to rust, not only the sponges in the wings but floor too. I thought it was a German car, NO! Parts from Austria, Spain, Mexico, Dominican Republic and I suspect the Valeo heater is French. And when did VW rewrite the laws of physics? Finding M6 threads with 9/10/11mm heads, M8 with 13/17 and M10 with 15/16/17/18 heads. Then that bitch bolt on the injector pump is 3 flats 7mm and 3 at 8mm. And I lost count of the number of clips everywhere, must be hundreds, also the ballast weights like the 'anvil' on the rack? Just how complicated is the accelerator 'drive by wire' with the long shaft across to a return spring in the engine compartment, bell crank to bowden cable over a slipper to a sender with a pulley and 6 terminals. The firewall might have bolts around but has some good glue too, better than the glued bonnet hinges and the pedal-box is a desperate design nightmare. It is a shame really to see it go after outliving a thirsty Mk2 Driver and a Mk4 that ate rear springs.

If you think that's bad, wait until you work on a Golf 7, 64 plate Golf R and the rear floor is rotten!
