Hi. Got myself a Seat Altea XL diesel 2006. It’s not a smoker and runs really well. However, Just put it in for a MOT and it failed the emissions check. Took it away and fitted a new air and fuel filter. Put 2 lots of Wynns diesel engine cleaner at two different times over the course of a week, ragged the bones out of it the morning of the retest and it failed again. Only thing I forgot to do is put some non supermarket diesel into it. Not sure how much of a difference this makes. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

It is a 2005 model built 19.11.2004 and registered 10/03/2006, must have sat around a while when new. these are the test values it should make. I am not an MOT tester but he needs to check his setup.

Thank you for your response. Will have to chat to someone about this as not entirely sure what all these figures mean.

Apologies for my ignorance, but am I right in assuming that the Test limit applied of 0.85 l/m is too low? Get the impression through internet based research for similar aged cars it should be nearer 3.0 l/m
