    Hi all,
New member here as I cannot find any similar issues on any specific Skoda forums.

    I have a 2014 Skoda Octavia 2.0ltr VRS, DSG (DQ250).
Symptom of fault: Randomly cuts out for a split second. This can be at any point in the rev range, so cruising at 70mph in 6th gear, or pulling away gently in 2nd gear. It's just as if you turn the car off for a fraction of a second.
Fault finding carried out: VCDS full scan in aggressive mode = no faults logged. DSG transmission specialist has driven the vehicle and is certain the fault is not DSG.

From reading this post: Question Audi A3 2.0TDI random cut outs. it seems very similar, although not at tickover, sadly a resolution wasn't reported.
I have VCDS at hand, so am wondering if I use in live data mode, I could see if there is a drop in data or voltage of the crank speed sensor?

Just wondering is anyone has has a similar issue and resolved it, or can give me some pointers to help fault find the issue?

    Many thanks,
    Ian.

Yes, defiantly log the rpm of the crank speed sender watching for significant drops

Thanks Crasher, I was hoping you may reply!

I had a good read of a few other forums last night, seems to be that the CPS may well be to blame, however, I do like to fully diagnose a problem before firing the parts cannon at the issue.
I'll get the laptop out and start logging.

    Cheers.

    All sorted now.

I used VCDS to plot Cam against Crank sensor and could see the odd drop of the crank position sensor.
New one delivered that afternoon and installed. So far all is well again. Plus, the odd 'long start' issue has also gone away, which makes sense as to what was causing that.
