1.6 TDI to 2.0 TDI Conversion?

I have had this twice on type 36 Passat’s after fitting a new BCM, the ABS pump coding becomes corrupted to left hand drive (right hand traffic), the car starts pulling to the left and the steering warning comes on or the ESP, I don’t remember which. For one I was able to recode it with ODIS after re flashing the software with a revised version as it refused to recode with VCDS. On the other, I had to fit a new ABS ECU and the customer was seriously ****** off with me as he couldn’t understand what had happened and considered it my fault, which I can understand if you know nothing about the subject. I also had a Polo 6R in from another garage in Derby which had the same problem after a new BCM was coded using a Snap Off scanner. ODIS could not recover it and in the end it was taken back to the VW dealer in Derby but I don’t know what happened.

It seems to recode OK with VCDS but I'm only recoding in the same code (0004007). The coding helper doesn't have any description of which bit's do what for this module, so I suspect one of those bits need changing or recalculating to account for the deactivation of start stop, oh and maybe Lin-bus monitoring as the CBBB doesn't have a LIN capable alternator.
without those labels though it's anyone's guess!

Mine does also have the steering wheel light and ESC light active, but yes it's impossible for me to tell if it has swapped itself to LHD without those descriptions.

It is understandable why they would be annoyed but as you say, it isn't your fault. There are so many electrical systems in these cars now that don't always play well!

I was coding in some new injectors for a friend on his BMW the other day, and the footwell module just decided no more. indicators, windows, and a load of other things all stopped working.
Apparently that happens sometimes on E90 BMW's for no reason, they just get corrupted.

Is your interface a genuine VCDS one? Do you have a scan from before you did the work?

No it's a clone. I am just a one person trying fix my own car. I'm not a garage or business. I'm not using it for monetary gain, or to diagnose other cars. It is not viable for me to buy a genuine cable for what will be just personal use for 1 car.

No for the full auto-scan before because my VCDS wasn't running at the time before i took it apart.
