Had driver’s side wing mirror replaced after the element went on it. New mirror isn’t heating as well as the passenger side. Took it back to the garage and the mechanic demonstrated the replacement mirror heating well by activating it with VCDS. But it usually doesn’t heat well when I turn the dial to the 6 o’clock position. VCDS shows proper voltage going to the mirror and no faults. I have observed a weird plus sign pattern on the suspect mirror when I first activate the heated element when it is iced over.

Anyone got any ideas? Could the replacement mirror be faulty already?

Sorry for the incredibly late reply!

Found out from garage that fitted the new mirror that it is not the mirror glass from Audi. I am not sure where they sourced it from, but they usually get parts from TPS.

How much is the Audi mirror glass and would I need to go to the dealer for that?

What is the VIN? There are a lot of Chinese Replacement Auto Parts out there, buy cheap, buy twice.

You need Audi part number 8W0 857 536 E and this retails at £100.92 inc. from any Audi dealer.
