TDI 2.0 CFH Intermittent non-starting issue

Hope you're all good.

Just wanted to say I've been a long time viewer but a new poster.

I'm recently having an intermittent issue with my motor. It starts up fine 95% of the time with no issues, It has been my daily runaround to work and back with no issues.

On two occasions I have taken it out for less than 20 minutes and then when going to start it, it just cranks over until the battery dies. There doesn't appear to be any pattern, it just does it when it wants to.

Eventually, it will burst back into life and fire up as if nothing has happened.

When it cranks there is no RPM on the dial but I don't know if this is normal. My first thoughts are either Crankshaft or Camshaft sensor, but I was wondering if anybody else has had this issue before and managed to sort it?

A code read first and if nothing relevant, yes crank speed sensor G28 is a known issue in this failure mode and very rarely leaves a code.
