Just bought a 2008 golf tsi
Runs smooth has a good maintenance history. Seems like a good zippy little car. For a good price.
Mechanic friends said be careful with them. Other mates who've owned them said they are great. Seems like if you stick to the maintenance schedule they should be really good.
Timing chain was stretched at around 90,000 km in 2022.
This was changed professionally.
I just got home and was looking over the paperwork again and realized when they did the chain at 90k there's no mention of changing the pump as well.
There's no heating issues or anything. All systems seem to run fine.
Just concerned the pump will need changing sooner than preferable (at roughly $1600) and wanted info on when that should be.
I'm gonna call the mechanic tomorrow, figured they would at least check the pump when they put in the new chain and guides..?

If you do the job properly by removing the sump, then the pump, chain and tensioner are easy to do. THE most important point with these engines is to use minimum 98RON fuel.
