2008 Golf 1.9 TDI BXE Cold start issue

Hi,

Ive got an issue with my Golf 1.9 TDI BXE.

First thing on a morning, it will crank but not start and have the oil pressure light come on.

It will start with a bump start or starts without an issue when on a hill.

anyone experienced anything like this?

The oil pressure waning is a stupid software error in the dash so indirect that, the first step is to disconnect the head harness and use a diagnostic system to establish the cranking RPM; from your description I can say it will almost certainly be below the 280 rpm minimum, also a stupid software problem.

I can check that with VCDS but what i don’t understand is that it started perfectly fine today when parked on a hill and after the first start the car will start perfectly fine until its been parked for 5/6hours.

Could be that it was a little warmer and the oil thinner so the RPM fractionally higher, test the RPM before over thinking it.
