Toying with the idea of retrofitting a heated steering wheel to my C6 q. - this was not a factory option on this car but it was on the All Road and Q7.
Had a look at a mates All Road and the Clock Spring ( squib) has the extra pins for the heating element - Part # 4F0953541B, however when I look at these on ebay they do NOT have the pins for the element.

The steering wheel electronics controller (4F0953549C) is the same on both vehicles. I have a full version of 7ZAP, but it doesn't tell you a great deal about this.

Can anyone verify the part number?

I have managed to find the squib and controller from a Q7 - this has the pins for heat and is indeed part # 4F0953541B, so not quite sure why there are some without the heating pins with that number.
    - all I need now is the part number for the heating element 2 pin plug that lives behind the airbag - I am having a wheel retrimmed with the addition of new heating elements so I don't have the plug - Its an odd plug in the shape of a V - Its not listed anywhere on 7ZAP - If anyone has it that would be great!!

    **NUDGE**

I see to remember a while ago when I was looking for something unrelated, the tame audi parts guy was looking on ETKA and landed on a page that was showing different squibs and the plugs that went into them ( I only really saw the airbag connector drawing).

So moved on a bit with this project....
However, I seem to have painted myself into a corner!!

Solved the problem of the heating element connector - bought a broken heated wheel from a Golf on Ebay and just cut the connector off!

So I have fitted the squib ( from Q7) onto the A6, and fitted a thermistor (G428) onto the 2 pin connector on the left hand operating unit (E221 left) - I can activate the heater using VCDS - was really expecting to have to run a power wire to the squib, but apparently not!

Now this is where it starts to go wrong.......

I was hoping to activate the heater with a button on the dashboard, but quickly realised I cant do that because switching is done via the CAN bus withing the wheel controller - so the switch has to be in the wheel - not particularly a problem once I found a switch (4F0951527B)
looking at the wiring diagrams, the heating switch (E522) is connected to the Right side operating unit (E221 right) - HOWEVER, there is no where for this to plug into - there is just a 3 pin plug for the paddle UP shift.

Looking at 7ZAP - it shows the right hand operating unit as 4F0951527F for PR code 2ZD ( heated wheel) - the unit on the A6 is 4F0951527 - ordered a 527F unit from ebay, but when it arrived it still only had the 3 pin plug for paddle shift.
The left hand operating unit for PR code 2ZD (heated wheel) 4F0951527E is already fitted to my car - this has a 2 pin connector for the thermistor and a 3 pin connector for the paddle shift down.

Can anyone shed any light onto the correct right hand operating unit I need?
