    Hi guys n gals,

Recently purchased a 15 plate Passat GT estate and have found the passenger rear floor full of water, at first I thought it was coming in through the bulkhead, but have since discovered when we have heavy rain it's filling the door up and running over the door skin and in through the door panel, and for the life of me can't see any drain holes in the door.

Are there any? are they in the seals or have I missed something obvious?

    Thanks all

    Hiya

    Vin is WVWZZZ3CZGE043234

The only other info I've found online is this video on youtube

    - YouTube

Which mentions the leak in the rear door, but not how to sort it or where the drain holes actually are.

    thanks again for the reply

    Cheers

My initial suspicion would be the rear vents behind the sides of the rear bumper, these have been revised twice since your car was made to new number 6R0 819 465 C and £26.94 retail inc. each. Yes, they are the same as a Polo. The other door seal has also been revised but I need to look that up at work. It would be worth removing the door cards and having someone spray water around the door and look for leaks such as from the speaker pods.

    Hi,
I've just bought a UV torch and some dye on the advice of a mechanic I know and am planning to give that a whirl. I'll try with the door first as it's the easiest, I just don't know how to solve it if it is the door, there must be water drain holes though surely?
I'll be honest, I hadn't really heard anything about the body vents until recently & assumed they would just let water into the boot, can they let water into the footwell without the boot getting wet? it may sound a daft question but just trying to rule things out.
Don't know if this makes any difference but my wife only uses the car and we noticed it initially after the car had been parked up for a few weeks and we'd had a lot of rain
