Car stalls while driving when it rains.

I have a 2004 VW Golf 5 1.9 TDI.
The car starts without any problems, but when it rains and I’m driving, it begins to jerk and stalls. I wait 5 or 10 minutes, and it starts again. It drives with some jerking for a few minutes and then runs fine.

Usually a failing crank speed sensor and often they leave no code. When it acts up, does the rev counter reading bounce around?

It can do it it is heavy enough or the wiring is breaking down
