    Morning all,

I saw this error for the first time about 8 months ago, it flashed up once for a second or 2 and I haven't seen it since until this morning, I was doing around 50mph and it flashed up 4 times within 10 seconds and then went away, I carried on with my journey for another 20 mins and all was fine.

I remember looking it up at the time and I think it mentioned a potential faulty microswitch. I didn't pursue it as the problem went away.

Is it an easy DIY repair or is it a dealer job?

    Many thanks,

    Nick.

This is popping up every day now, clears after a second though.

Looked in to the repair kits again and checked with VW, they are about £55 + VAT which isn't as bad as I expected.

    Has anyone fitted one themselves?

It seems to be the common issue on all VW vehicles with DSG gearbox. I've even seen this error on e-Golf fitted with real automatic transmission (CVT gearbox). I'm not sure if VW solved this issue on newer models but it seems that replacing microswitch in gear shifter lever solves the problem. Replacing procedure doesn't look too much complicated, at least in this video: [URL]https://youtu.be/uBAnXG9pW64/URL]

I would start with a code read.

I am perplexed you find the e-Golf’s “1 speed” electric drive unit a “real automatic”, to me that would de something like a GM400 slush box.

    Hi, thanks for the replies.

I used OBD11 and it's not showing anything, the error does goes away after a second though it's not static.

I've ordered the repair kit from the dealer anyway so I'll have a look to see how difficult it is to fit when I pick it up Wednesday. Sounds like there are several available so I had to send some pictures so they could order the right one.

Typically since I ordered it the error has popped up once :-)
