    Hi all,

While replacing my pollen filter housing and seal recently I managed to shear off all three of the studs which hold it in place. Yes, I am an idiot.

On the advice of a friend I tried to basically glue the housing on using tiger seal. Seemed promising at first but hasn't stood the test of time. It's a bit wobbly and I think it's still leaking.

For someone with limited tools (drilling and retapping etc is not really an option), what's the best solution here?

I think I'm just going to ask a garage to fix it but I'm not even sure what to ask for. Can they just weld some new studs on?

Pic attached of two of the three studs snapped off. The final one snapped off when trying to tighten the nut back on.

    Thanks in advance

Access looks a bit tight especially near the hinge but drilling out whats left and putting riv nuts in might work, the housing would then attach with bolts instead of using nuts on the studs.

Tiger seal is usually a good adhesive, I would have thought you'd never get it off again instead of not sealing.

We would do that with M6 rivet studs using a 90 degrees angle drill head and our tight access rivet stud gun… specialised stuff.

I was also surprised the tiger seal didn't work. It seemed very promising at first but after a month or two the pollen filter has become loose again.

Going to ask a garage to put some riv nuts in.

I'm glad to hear at least that there is a solution with the right tools. I'm going to hand this one over to the garage and ask them to do their worst I think!
