    Hi all.

Im afraid i dont know much about cars so bare with me

Ive just brought a VW Bora 2.0L Sport and when it idles it seems lumpy and a bit rough if that makes sense. It does this weather its hot or cold.

Ive had the cambelt changed and a small service but still it idles rough. Also when started from cold it normally cuts out unless i give it a few revs, could these problems be linked?

I spoke with a guy at work today and he asked does the exhaust sound as though it it thumping and popping a little, i said yes, he said maybe some air getting into the system somewhere causing it to be rough!! just thought i'd mantion this.

    Cheers

    Hi Piggy,

I've got a 2000 VW Bora 2.0 SE which over last month has developed a rough idle and hesitates when accelerating. Also got a T4 and the commercial vehicle blokes reckoned symptoms pointed to it being the coils which were subject to a recall as so many were going wrong.

Its booked in on Tuesday at local VW car dealer so I'll keep you posted.

My main concern is that they said they weren't very busy so I hope they don't go 'looking' for problems and start replacing everything.

    Regards
    Murray

    Hi mate.

Thanks for the post. Let me know what happens tuesday. Hate my car going to the garage.
Took it too my local garage today and he said no fault codes so i'll have to go to vw. Mine has got 6 months warrenty from when i brought it but it only costs covering parts and labour replacing things, it doesnt cover the labour trying to find out whats wrong!! Sounds costly too me so i dunno what to do.
Will await your reply to see what they say about yours. Hope it all goes well. Cheers mate.

    hi
had similar probs wiv mine, get it code read, about 30 quidish, should come upwiv a list of problems, could be that the mass ais sensor needs changing and/or the lambda sensors, cost for that is around 300 quid or so,is your fuel consumption quite high,if it is the above remedy may well sort out all your problems,
    good luck
    mick
