A friend had asked me to look at the ABS warning on the dash.

Scanned the car with a Launch X.431 and no comms to ABS module and the ECU showing a no comms to ABS error.

The test plan was to check fuses first, then check power to ABS module and if they were ok then use a scope to check if data was getting to the ABS module on the CAN bus.

Fuses were easy and they were OK.
I had a look an online ELSAWIN for ABS drawings and found some and worked out power and CAN pins.

When we looked at the car the drawings didn't seem to match reality.. The ABS/ESP module (under the gearbox ECU) had a quite different (larger) connector and the ABS valve body had a vertical connector, not a horizontal as shown in the pics.

Does any one have any drawings of ABS system or any pointers?

    Regards
    TFB

It is the Bosch 5.7, I was fighting comms issues with one of these yesterday in a 2005 3B Passat and it was the CAN BUS in the instrument panel needing a new panel. The pump ECU and instrument panel in this car are obsolete so will have to be repaired which is very hit and miss.

Thanks, the drawings I could see were for 5.0 or 5.3. Don't suppose you have a pin out drawing for the 5.7? Visually all the connectors looked clean and shiny so I am suspecting a module (and obsolete doesn't surprise me) but do wan't to prove power and comms first.

VW don't do pin outs as such but you can download the current flow diagrams from Audi erWin, actually they don't. I will email you it.
