Our roadster interior lights were always !iffy, so today pulled them and found the metal bulb holders for the 2 bulbs were both moving about due to broken plastic resulting in the bulb contact making and breaking.
A little solder and wire and both sorted and back in car.
Both lights turn on and off with the map light buttons.
However strange things happen if I try and use them as the courtesy lights. They will illuminate when unlocking and also turn off when locking, BUT they never go off with the ignition and do not come on and off with doors opening and closing...thought not sure if they ever should?
I have to leave them turned off or they stay on if the car is running or not locked with the plipper.

That isn’t right, you need a code scan of the convenience unit. Any signs of water ingress in the car?
