Hi all, engine light on, and emissions workshop, just scanned, and come up with p1292 open circuit on thermostat map. Have cleared fault, but anyone had any experience of this? Is it a separate sensor on top of the thermostat? Advice appreciated

You could fit the thermostat unit which is now obsolete from VW and widely available aftermarket but it is better to fit the full assembly 06A 121 111, also obsolete genuine and again widely aftermarket such as my preferred choice, the FEBI 108921

Am going to do thermostat today. Its definitely overheating, so was thinking thermostat stuck. However fan not operating to cool it down..Could a dodgy map thermostat stop the fan from operating, or could a dodgy fan component pull up the same code?! Cheers

The thermostat may not be opening but that would be odd as if I remember correctly from the Self Study Program, they are designed to fail open.
