I am still happily driving my A6 Avant C7, and I intend to do so for quite a while, but I have been wondering for a while now if there is a way to 'persuade' the new cars in the VW stable that come with the EU mandatory speed limiters to remember the setting over ignition cycle, i.e. if one decides to switch them off, to remember the OFF settings after ignition is off and on again, as it seems that by default the limiter is on when starting the car, regardless. So something similar to the VCDS magic that allows the car to remember the Start/Stop status over ignition cycles, handy in my A6 C7, which you otherwise have to disable yourself every time the car is started.

Funnily enough I was wondering exactly the same thing yesterday, that damn beeping would make me feel suicidal.

If there isn’t already a switch function reversal toggle function in the menus as there is for the dammed stop/start abomination then the mapping trade will be doing a roaring business turning it off… a stupid, unworkable, pointless idea. If fact, thinking about it, when the same vehicles are sold for emergency response vehicles there would have to be a simple override function, you don’t want a police pursuit driver being driven mad by relentless distracting nanny state interference.

In the A6 C7 the Start/Stop is a physical button, and there is a setting you can change with VCDS, as shown here. Maybe someone will figure out an Adaptation for memorizing the limiter setting...

By the way, I enabled the memorization of the Start/Stop status with VCDS and I switched it off at the button, remaining like that basically since new. I have had the car for nearly 8 years and 180,000 miles, the battery is still the original one, and it has never missed a beat. I can't help but think that not having Start/Stop engaged must have helped, or am I wrong?

There is a good chance the starter and DMF would have failed by now, especially with the odd design used, and I can’t see an OE AGM battery doing 8 years with S/S, more like 5.
