Hi all i drive an audi a6 1.9tdi avant 130pd with 125000 miles.
I have owned it for 18 months and in that time have tried to solve this mystery. The turbo only kicks in when it feels like it, when it does the car runs really well responsive throttle, very good acceleration, and the brake pedal stops the car sooner on the stroke and is more powerful. I did have the vacuum pipes checked out via a audi garage, not main dealer, and they found nothing wrong. so have checked the egr valve had it blanked off no change so refitted it. changed the maf. changed fuel filter. had a remap...at first thought this cured it. Am now having audi main dealer take a look at the vacuum system since reading on Audi-sport.net where a guy was having similar symptoms. will keep you posted.

    Problem solved at long last!
I took my car to Elite vehicle repairs in Thornaby on Tees, Cleveland, Phil the owner, diagnosed a faulty tandem pump and replaced it. Total cost £395. Am well chuffed, the car goes like it should now. Phil's telephone number is mobile
