On Friday evening I had the yellow air suspension fault light please contact workshop message. Over the weekend it has gradually dropped a little (it seems to do this normally when the temperature goes up and down a bit). Then when started this morning has the red message air suspension and says to stop.

AA couldn't find the exact cause but suggests that normal failure is the air compressor and maybe relay. Is this the most likely?

Does anyone know where is the compressor located on the car and can it be repaired? (google suggests earlier A6 model compressors can be repaired easily).

The pre 22-07-19 build date compressor system is a known problem and there is a revised system that it is recommended to fit in full so as the known the problem has been solved, what is the VIN so I can check the build date?

Maybe worth speaking to https://www.bagpipingandy.com Others on here and other forums have reported very good outcomes from him.

VIN is WAUZZZF27KN006455 reg date Oct 2018 so sounds like the known problem. Are there any details I can give to the local garage to help them. They are very good but any extra information always helps.

Build date 26.04.18 so the first step would be to install the later compressor system 4K0 616 005 C which costs £1975.

Thank you, 4K0 616 005 C is expensive in the UK - USA price is $800 and in Europe 650Eur.

You say the first step, is to replace the compressor system (which I think at the same time it is recommended to replace the control relay) are there any further items set to 'fit in full' as per your earlier post.

The price should be approx same, are you comparing dealer prices or search engine BS? The system is supposed to come with all you need, it isn't just the compresore, it is the entire system.

The USA ones are from Audi dealers, list price $1077 for the kit which includes the compressor, mounting, filer and control module at least one of the dealers ofer a discount that brings it down to $800. However the ones from Germany don't include all the extra bits and arn't through a dealer so a bit dubious. However the disparity of UK to USA seems enormous but import from there is not easy.

    Hi Crasher

I am struggling to get a price for the 4K0 616 005 C in the UK, the main dealer seems to just want to get the car but won't give me a price for the part until they look at it and want to charge a minimum 3hrs labour before they tell me anymore. Do you know someone who can supply in the UK?
Does the kit require any programming / setting up or does it just need to be fitted mechanically and plugged in? (the car is in my local garage who are very good but concerned if it is a modification it might need a dealer)

I have seen some used parts of that number taken off an Etron which might be a last resort, but seems ridicules to have to resort to that.

So found a diagram on the USA site that shows what is included:

    https://parts.audiusa.com/a/Audi_202...E-06C14AC3F115

From this diagram I can see what is included, it is the compressor itself, the control module, inlet filter and the bracket. I don't know but it looks like the modification was to add /change the control module and the bracket is to mount that new unit but am interested if this is the case?

I moved my enquiries to a different dealer who were much more helpful and got a price (Crasher was spot on) and confirmed they can get the part in two days. They have a have a large backlog for service but if car is recovered they can confirm diagnosis of my local garage and try and squeeze me in but cannot promise.

So my other option is to get the local garage to fit the part, the only problem would be if it needs to be programmed or coded or whether it can be just fitted mechanically?
