    Is there a better part then the genuine P/O/S inner cv 1k0498201d boot that tears in one way or another that only last 3-4 years max.

    They fail if the car is very low, is it? You could try the original style boot rather than the Golf 5 version you have been using, Febi still sell it under their number 38343

    no its factory, golf 5 number is same for the mk4 , i think they removed the old mk4 kit as used to come with the big nut.

    The 1K prefix of the part number shows it was used firstly on the PQ35 platform where a Golf is a type 1K, I covered the unveiling of the Golf 5 on press day at the Frankfurt IAA motor show in 2003 for The Golf magazine.

    The previous version of the boot started life as 191 498 202 A in the Golf 2 (type 19), also as 535 498 202 (WHY after a Scirocco 1?) and then when used in the PQ34 platform where a Golf is a type 1J, the part number changed to 1J0 498 201 A.

    When the PQ35 came out, they changed the material from EPDM to Polyurethane and I have found these more reliable but they would not look correct on the Scirocco 2 I have just restored when your customer is looking for an OEM look so it is good the original design is still sold by many companies such as the OEM LÖBRO



    This is the GKN/LÖBRO version
