Touran 2.0TDI BMN cranks, no start

I had the fuel filter out, the top of the filter was almost dry. syphoned the canister of diesel, were almost empty. Activated the fuel pump thru VCDS and the lift pump makes the humming noise, but little to non fuel came to the canister after the 30 sec

A long overdue update, after removing the fuelpump I noticed that the diesel was dark and full of ash-looking stuff floating around. Pumped out the dirty diesel and thoroughly cleaned the tank. Filled fresh diesel and mounted the new pump, the starting issue did not improve. Took out ASV and EGR yet again looking for soot and gunk, then I saw that the piston in the EGR valve was loose and I could turn it and there was 1 - 1,5 mm of opening from the valvehead to the valve seat. The valve itself did not move at all. Went ahead and made a planking plate for the EGR, mounted it and tried to start the car, it started intantly and the rough idle that had been a PITA before is gone. Car never felt more smooth and responsive. Here in Norway the law for emissions arent that strict, I will remove the EGR system completly and remap it.
