I agree with you, but I can understand why people might choose this option. Its immoral of Audi to sell me a car for £22k, 2 years warranty, and then drag their heels when things go wrong. This is not a cheap fix by any means, and it's frankly appalling by their standards.

Cleaning can cost about £300 if parts are not removed or £500+ if parts are removed. Do cleaning with parts still in place work? I've read Facebook forums where it's just a waste of time.

I am reluctant aswell because if I spent say £300+ on cleaning and it didn't work, if still have to find £1000+ somewhere to get egr replaced.

Thanks for explaining re VIN. Nice to have a professional around

So, an update. Audi couldn't cover the entire costs but happy to payout £500 to get it repaired wherever I wanted. Not great but happy they've taken some responsibility

Hi Crasher. Can you please let me know where I can find the oem egr cooler for £570? Quick Google search and loads (cheaper) from *******, but possibly not oem. Arnold Clark parts £650. Thanks.

The VAG UK retail price for 04L 131 512 A is £570 including VAT from any Audi dealer or TPS if they will serve you. There is no top quality aftermarket unit I can see listed.
