I am looking for a a secondhand, approved used, VW Polo. I am in the South East and thinking of probably max £16K budget.

The car will be mainly used for some town driving/A roads to towns 15-20 miles away. It will be good to be versatile for collecting people from stations, shopping, local leisure trips etc.
How is the VW polo boot for a large suitcase?

I am thinking of how to maximise my value for money. I am thinking where is the "sweet spot" in terms of mileage/age and price? I assume that over 4 years or 25k miles would be too worn out and might need some items replacing further down the road?
How is low mileage and older car? I am happy to accept something which doesn't have all the latest mod-cons, but is still reliable? I am happy with a basic trim level.

Are ex-lease cars often driven harshly and to avoid?

What options are there with engines in the 2020-2024. Ideally I want a petrol manual. I am thinking the lowest powered, non-turbo 1.0L would not be powerful enough, and also not economical on dual-carriageways. The 1.0 TSI (95 bhp) would be better.

I have a fairly new Golf Mk8 - how does the Polo compare? Any comments on running costs such as fuel economy and repairs?

How do dealers get their second-hand stock. If there is something further afield - what is the best option? I suppose they often work as groups?

How would you rate something like: 2021 Grey Volkswagen Polo MK6 Hatchback 5Dr 1.0 TSI 95PS Match for sale for £15,489 in Gillingham, Kent (autotrader.co.uk)

When buying a 2nd hand approved used car, will these come with rubber mats, spare wheels, new tyres etc and a recent MOT?

In terms of haggling what do I have to play with - the base price, or haggle over any extras?
