Hi, I am new to this forum but looking for some help from someone who may have seen this issue before and can help.

Car is 2012 VW Golf MK6, 1.6 TDi BlueMotion with 120k miles on the clock.

Problem - car intermittently bellows out smoke from the exhaust every few days then stops and runs normally. There is no loss of power when this is happening but on idle, the rev counter moves up/down very slightly/flickers.
It happens when the car has not fully warmed up and does continue sometimes for 20 minutes after reaching temperature.
The EGR has been blocked several years ago as it was giving trouble at the time. The car has run fine since this was done.

Attemps to clear the problem so far -
Full service completed, oil changed etc
No evident loss of oil or coolant
    DPF taken off and cleaned
    Thermostat changed
Car has had several long runs 50+ miles, still the problem returns
DPF light comes on occassionally during the problem
Smell of fuel when the car is smoking heavily
It will continue to happen until the car has a longish run, then returns a few days later

I do have a video of the problem but unable to post it on here as its an MP4.

Thanks in advance for your help and opinions on this, hoping some one has seen it before and can advise on a fix.

Probably injectors failing and removing the EGR causes a sharp rise in combustion temperatures which massively increase combustion temperatures which can overheat and damage the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst in the front section of the DPF case.

Anthropogenic climate change, the biggest con inflicted on mankind since religion...
