I've recently got myself a 2016 Audi A3 Sportsback. The car feels ok apart from if I give it high revs in sports mode the glow plug warning light starts flashing. It doesn't happen in economy mode. When I pull over, turn the car off and then restart it I get a warning about the start-stop function not working. Once home and the car has been left for a while the car in fine.

Has anyone got any idea how serious this is?

    Thanks

You need to start with a full car code read, preferably one VAG group specific as generic code reads can confuse.

Thanks, I've checked with Audi and they want the car for 2 days and £360 to diagnose the fault !

Any independant VAG specialists in your area? My local one charges something like £100 to scan the codes and give an estimate of whats needed and cost.

Or if you're thinking of getting a copy of VCDS for this and future use you can get the 3 car version for less than £200

less than an hours work to get a local garage to run a diagnostic scan & give you a printout of the fault codes that arise.

    I have a 2015 2.0 TDI with 43k miles.
Had both warning lights (coily symbol & engine block symbol) on for over a year.

Because of the fault code provided to me, I replaced my cylinder 3 glow plug (which has a sensor built into the glow plug), £200 including labour. However, it could be any of 3 sensors on that system.

OBDeleven - VAG licensed so will give correct code read, they are as cheap as £50, great glove box hero and you can go on to configure other things while you have it
could be any number of things so a code read is a must.

I took a punt and added some Redex DPF cleaner to the tank which has fixed the light coming on at high revs issue. I will look into getting a proper clean done in the near future.

After a few weeks, the dreaded glow plug light reappeared so I finally took it to my local garage for diagnostics. Error code P164B00 - Oil pressure switch malfunction. Has anyone come across this error before and is it easy to replace?

Yes it is common, the one we did last week had to be accessed from below, and some have two so replace both.
