I swapped the door control module back over with the old one today. Looks like it's still the same. Here's a scan after clearing the codes. The instrument one has been there for before this issue but I removed as probably unrelated to the issue.

Here's a picture of my wiring loom repair before I added electrical tape to it. Also, im just wondering what the connector in the third picture is for? As that one doesn't come out with the wiring loom.

I think I found the problem, the wiring loom connector wasn't pushed all the way in. But I noticed that it wasn't clipping in to place. I used the old wiring loom connector that I cut from my old one during the repair, that wouldn't "click" into place either.

When I pushed the connections together and put the door card back on, closed the door. The windows and mirrors worked from the drivers side switch. I moved my car, when I next tried again, it wasn't working, probably the connector in the door loom has come out of the socket again. Looking at the socket, it looks like some of the bottom part of the socket might be broken, it's hard to see. My gues to what caused it could be that I didn't get the connector in properly behind the rubber grommet and maybe the force of the door closing on it chipped the bottom part? as the socket was initially secure when I first started all this and I didn't notice anything break during the other times I've been attempting this fix.

So I guess now I need to secure this socket some how. Anybody have any suggestions for semi temp solutions? or will I need a new socket?

If it is the one in the picture then I would change it, the part number is on it. You will need the specific terminal tool, I get the plug number to be 1K0 972 928 which costs £12.42 but you must use the correct primary locking tool VAS 1978/35-23, for the secondary one a thin blade screwdriver will suffice. Damage the pins and you are in a world of hurt. This doesn't seem to be available in the universal sets

Cheers, I've attached a few pictures of the connector. Not much space, so the pictures are quite close up, but I think the bottom part looks broken.

Looking at the A Pillar connector in the picture you posted, I'm wondering if it is broken. I'll probably have another look at it tomorrow at some stage. Is there any reason other than it being broken that it might not "click" back in? Could it have been pushed back into the car body, or perhaps I haven't pushed it back hard enough. I haven't messed with the pink tab at the top that I recall.

They can be a real PITA due to the tight space.
