Hi all. Newbie here. Since the last spout of torrential rain. I noticed the front footwell was soaked in water through to the mats in there. It's reversed onto a slanted drive and since has filtered into the rear and last time I checked there was a massive puddle. I've put towels to help soak, but could see it's still under the carpet. It's bone dry on the NS so need some advice in where it might be coming from. I've checked under the scuttle panel and it's not blocked there. Someone told me to check the heater matrix and if the liquid tastes sweet. Can't say it does but due to it now being frosty out it seems to have gone down. Any advice would be great but it I need to take it to a garage then I will as got a baby due end of March so want it sorted for then. Thanks

The cabin air intake on the Golf 4 only tends to let water in if the lower screen trim is broken/dislodged, the planum drains on the Golf 4 are pretty good.

Hi, yes its a mk7. Its only on the driver side as well. My boss said it might be the heater matrix and to taste the water to see if its sweet. Its not and I am not loosing coolant either.
Its too cold and wet to strip the car so not sure where the leak could be coming from. I heard it could be the speaker seals, but its odd its only on one side of the car. I reverse onto a sloped drive a so its very noticeable in the rear footwell.
I have had a look where the scuttle panel is, but that doesnt look like there is any blockage there either. Also the boot isnt flooding.

Water in the footwells of a 4 door Golf 7 is always (so far!) split door speaker mounts.

Hi. No its a mk7. Had a mk4 and never had any leaks. I used to fit windscreens so know where it is on one of those. Easy fix as well. Sadly mines door card off and walk sealant round the speaker haha
