    Preview: Tyre pressure system error
Looking for any suggestions on troubleshooting the tyre pressure monitoring system please.

About 3 weeks ago the TPMS orange warning started flashing and an error appeared on the digital display show TPMS system error and all four wheels highlighted yellow.

I checked the pressures and inflated them slightly and reset the system. Warning light keeps coming back after about a week and has been reset 2 more times. Tyres have not lost pressure.

This happened once before and it sorted itself after about 4-5 resets. I have not scanned the car with OBDeleven tool for any error codes. Just want to ask on here if anyone else has had the same issues recently before I started replacing ABS sensors. Will OBDeleven indicate a faulty sensor or will I need to do a wheel speed test?

Can you fool these passive sensors by setting them at low pressure then inflating the tyres to the correct pressure?

    Merry Xmas to all.

Is the system direct or indirect?

It is a passive or indirect system. I have scanned with OBDeleven and got the fault code C1146F0; Tyre pressure monitoring display not available.

I also did a live data test on all four ABS sensors. They all reported the same speeds but both front sensors gave "invalid" readings for direction of rotation and air gap.

I guess the first step is to try and remove both front ABS sensors without damaging them and give them a clean.

Are all four tyres the same brand and all within a couple of mm of each other. Can you see the ABS ECU software verion number?

All tyres are Michelin premacy 4, same age with 3-4mm tread. Rears are starting to feather, if that makes a difference.

Touch wood, once I cleared the codes, the warning light has not returned. Where would I find the ABS ECU software version?

If you read the ABS ECU it should have a software level number, a four numerical digit code.
