    Hi all

Have a funny control control issue. The on, cancel, off lever on the arm beside the steering wheel allows me to turn the cruise control on and off but doesn't let me set or reset the speed.

I know it is on because the indicator comes up on the dash, but stays this way regardless of the buttons I press such as set and reset. When I switch the cruise control off it just goes back to the mileage reading.

Checked on VCDS/odb eleven but there is no faults codes showing and it is enabled as far as I can see.

Is it as simple as the buttons not working or is there something more I can check to get it working?

Just a wee update on this. Tried on my way to work to set the cruise control and surprisingly it set. In all gears selected except 6th.

Has anyone come across this before? Is there something I can change with VCDS to get it to work in all gears?

    Start with a code read.

Hi Crasher I'm not sure how to do it with ODBeleven.

I have found out yesterday after a bit more probing that it only happens when the gear indicator switches off. The gear indicator when I go into 6th gear is on for about a second then turns off and disables the cruise control with it.

I have read on other forums for other vehicles it could be that the gear ratios for 6th has changed and the ECU doesn't recognise the gear, is this the case? Is there anything I can try to run this out or confirm it?

I don't know how with OBD11 but I would check the clutch and brake pedal hall sender signals and monitor them whilst driving to see if they triggered when the shouldn't but also if you can scan the steering column controller it may show the column stalk is defective.
