My BRE 2.0tdi Fan belt wont loosen enough to remove it.
I have tried the 14mm bolt on the tensioner, which moves some way, to a stop, but the serpentine belt is still too tight to remove.
I have removed/replaced it before, so I know it should become looser
Is there something else I have missed, or could try, other than brute force?

    Cut it off
Has the tensioner failed or something and is restricting it's full movement or does it look to be in the correct range of movement?
Is it much off, maybe try turning a pulley with the belt and try to work it off? Or remove an idler pulley first and then the belt.
