I need to change the tailgate rubber gaiter on the offside. When the cars are made, would it be reasonable to assume the tailgates are pre wired then fitted to the car? If that's the case how far in the car is the connection point? I can't seem to get any pictures via Google or any search results

The grommet as VW call it and conduit as I call it is part number 5G6 971 829 B and £15.18 but the left is a PITA to change as the harness is inserted through it before the plugs are fitted so you have to de-pin the 8 pin black plug inside the C pillar (or more on certain versions) and then re-pin after fitting the new conduit so we only do it by fitting a new harness section, is this left or right and what is the VIN?

I have the part. It is the driver's side that has broken. I don't mind unpicking the plug if that's what's required. I'll pm you the vin

    Thanks

I'll investigate tomorrow. We have the prospect of dry weather, so I'll have a good look around
