Over the last few weeks a problem has slowly developed with my 2012 Touran. When the car is cold as in first thing in the morning the car does not want to go into gear. It's nearly like when I press the clutch pedal the clutch does not fully engage. Is the 6 speed 2ltr diesel and I know it is possible to bleed the clutch but is this the problem or does anyone know if this is a sign of bigger problems.

When the engine and gearbox are warm the gear changes are possible, a bit clunky but nothing out of the ordinary.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Certainly start with bleeding the clutch BUT if it is the master or slave, this can actually make them fail completely... it is a gamble

Possibly the concentric release bearing (incorporating the slave cylinder) responds to the heat.

Thanks Crasher I'm due to give the car a full service this week so will bleed the clutch then. If that doesn't fix it I'll have to dig a bit deeper.

    It has been fixed.... temporarily.

I say temporarily as I am not convinced by the whole scenario. The other evening on my way home and after seeing a few clutch bleeding videos on YouTube I pulled the clutch pedal back to its highest point manual and pumped it a few times, all with the engine on, and it seemed to have fixed it. I have driven the car a few times since then and no issues with the clutch at cold or hot or any times.

Today then I did bleed any way to ensure all was well and after switching the car on the pedal seemed a smidge firmer.

We will see how it progresses over the next few days/weeks.

Out of interest Crasher where is the slave cylinder located in case I do need to replace it in future?

Yours uses a concentric hydraulic release bearing inside the box so box out to change.
