Good day guys. First post here.

I am completely stumped with my car.

Its a 2010 Jetta MK5 1.6tdi (CAY Engine)

It started acting up where it would at random not start. Cranking, but no start. This was completely random, not related to any of the following:
Ambient Temp

Engine Temp
Time since last drive
Fuel level

My wife would phone me saying the car won't start, I get there about 30min later and it starts right up, no issue. Then weeks go by without a problem.

I started driving the car myself, and experienced exactly the same.

Errors included minimum fuel pressure not reached, and fuel pressure too low - P0087

The last time it actually stumbled and died while driving.. Not starting. Then 40min later after towing the car home it starts right up again.

I started investigating, but can't find anything definitive. The car is now at the point where it never starts anymore. Last night I put power on both the pressure regulator and the volume control valve, and after a couple of seconds the pressure went over 1000Bar. This is an indication to me that the two valves and pump are in good condition. So next up was control. +12v supply on both sensor is all good. Wires measure continuity from plug to ecu on control side. ECU also doesn't trigger any error related to the sensors.

Any advice will be of great help!!

Thanx

Here is some additional info on the metering valve
