Ok so I had to replace shock and spring on my partner's Mk6 Golf 1.6 diesel (yeah I realise I'm on the Mk5 bit, but same running gear). Long story short, I ended up replacing the hub too. When I put everything back together, I got ABS/TC lights on dash. Diagnostic reported that ABS sensor was damaged/open circuit. Fair enough, I thought, I'd had to tug the sensor around a bit to get it out of the hub. Put a new one in - same problem.
The hub was a pattern part, 3-bolt fixing. My question is, do these hubs all have the same reluctor ring gear, or are there variations? Wiring continuity is all good, so it's not that.

Your suspicion would be well founded...

Is there something obvious I've missed? Or is the LHS prone to issues?

The left front harness is prone to internal failure, especially after being moved around when carrying out work; what is the VIN?

Update: after testing the harness again; and using a known good sensor, I figured the problem had to be the new hub. They're not that hard to remove/replace...just a ballache when you've got to do it more than once. So off with the new hub, on with the old. And hey presto, no ABS/traction lights on. Before fitting the old one back, I took a close look at both parts: the metal cover ring (over the magnets?) on the new part stood further proud of the assembly than on the old one. By between 1mm and 2mm, I reckoned. And judging by the black marks on this cover, I figured that it must have been in direct contact with the sensor.

It's all very well typing your reg no into the site search bar to get your part ordered without having to look....but the database has got to be accurate. Or maybe I just had a badly-made item, I dunno. Just glad to have a solution, really.
