Hi all, some advice and help please. Going to look at a relative's B6 58 plate Passat, the driver window is not moving but motor can be heard to make noises up then stop as if at the top. If I get s replacement motor module or complete regulator panel as well, can modules just be fitted as a direct DIY replacement or does the car then need some form of control module programming / garage set up? Thanks for your time and help

The cable has failed, a common issue across VAG products and one of the Passat 3C’s multiple party tricks. From VW it is only available as a full door frame window support unit and for cars up to mid 2008 is obsolete and as far as I can see, only available from one company called Opzional. What is the cars VIN or PM me the reg?

The car is a 2009 model built 27.05.2008 (yes, I know, bit odd) so it uses the later mechanism which is still available, part number 3C2 837 462 L and £255.60. Again only Opzional appear to list it as a repair kit under their number 4954034SM but if you Google that number a company called Frankenburg comes up as well for around £50 and it is a full panel. The Optional unit requires the drilling out and replacement of four 8mm rivets.
