Leased a new Golf in July 2024, and straight away I had an issue with stalling at a junction. I went to pull away and there was nothing on the accelerator. Turned engine on and off, and it started with no issue and off I went. This has happened probably about 30 times, I have done just under 5K miles. It has happened whilst my husband was driving too, so not my driving skills or lack of! It went to the dealers in August, no fault found, back again in November and a third time today at the request of VW Customer Service. Each time no fault found, which I am not surprised at as it is intermittent and they can only road test for a maximum of 20 minutes. This is dangerous as it is happening at junctions. VW Customer Service and the dealer wish me to 'demonstrate' it, but it is intermittent and I can't replicate it on demand. May I add that I always disable the start/stop function for every journey, which the technician at the dealership advised me to do in August, in case this was causing the issue, but it makes no difference.
Has anyone else experienced this, and if so what was the cause please? I will be back in touch with VW CS tomorrow, but wish to also understand my legal position or what I can do next?

    Hi
Yes, after it went into the dealership to be investigated the first time, when the car was around 5 weeks old, the technician suggested I try turning the start/stop off at the start of every journey, and it still does it. I always without fail disable the start/stop. Happened again today (sod's law it didn't happen yesterday when it was with the dealership again), but this time I was approaching the roundabout, slowed down but didn't need to stop, went over my line and then nothing on the revs. How I haven't been rear-ended yet is a miracle!
I was supposed to get a follow up call from VW Customer Service today, but am yet to receive it!

This sounds like a software problem, nothing new with a Golf 8.

Many thanks, it is so frustrating as both the retailer and customer services say that as I can't prove the fault there is nothing they can do! They wish me to photo/video the fault, but I keep telling them it happens at junctions with cars behind me, I can't sit there safely and start to record it, I will be shunted in the rear!! Especially as I can easily restart the engine and move off...
