    Hi,
I have golf mk5 2007 2.0gttdi, car was running fine,DSG service was due, got this done couple week ago. Iv noticed since then driving local roads gear changes are fine but on Motorway the Revs get to 3000 or 4000rpm before it chnages from 4th to 5th and 6th.

Any idea if im supposed to do some sort of reset as its getting abit annoying now. Had to switch to manual today on the way to work to shift to 5 and 6th.

Edit-- after posting the above drove from work on motorway around 30 odd miles, came off the motorway and the ABS and traction control light came on,

Got out the laptop with VCDS and found fault code 00290.
ABS Wheel speed sensor Rear Left (G46)
    003 -mechanical failure -Intermittent

Not sure whether this is linked to the gear changes at high revs or just a coincidence

That will be a corroded rear wheel bearing magnetic ring, can't see it affecting the DSG though but with Golf 5 CAN BUS who knows!

Thanks Crasher, rear wheelbearing changed with ABS ring, got garage to change ABS sensor for good measure. Took the car on Motorway and no issues anymore,

I hate taking my car to a garage as i want to get other things checked,

Owned this car for almost 3 years, always had a lingering smell of fumes, cant tell whether it is oil/ diesel. It is more noticable when in standstill traffic. Also when they heaters are turned on can get a whiff of this too.

I do notice when it is dark and iv parked up after a longish drive, what i can only describe as almost steam coming from the passenger side headlight. Can visibly see this when the lights are on. During the day i cannot see this.

The garage could smell this also and suspect could be some sort of fuel leak from engine compartment, no visble leaks though. I have to book it in as they didnt have time to check today as only booked in for the ABS issue.

Any ideas as to what this be related too. I dont experience any power loss/high fuel consumption etc.
