The rear air springs on our A6 Allroad C7 (4GH, 4GJ) 3.0 TDI are on the way out (rear sags if we leave it parked in the Auto height setting, stays up if we leave it in the Allroad setting).

According to my local Audi dealership parts department the part numbers are 4G0616001T and 4G0616002T.

In trying to avoid paying Audi £384 each for the air springs and before I risk some cheap Chinese imports, I thought I would check with Arnott's who seem to be the most obvious quality alternative.

Their website doesn't list a spring for the C7 Allroad BUT they do list a product as the equivalent of 4G0616001T and 4G0616002T (A-3891 and A-3892)
However, after speaking with their customer support department and supplying them with my VIN they say A-3891 and A-3892 are NOT compatible with my car.

    So I'm confused !

Has anyone been through this before and can they suggest a viable alternative? Or has anyone fitted a set of Arnott A-3891 and A-3892 springs to a C7 Allroad and they've been fine?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe worth calling bagpipingandy https://www.bagpipingandy.com. From what I have read on a number of forums he is very helpful and what he does not know about Audi air suspension is not worth knowing

I concur, not only does he have an encyclopaedic knowledge base. But he also sells parts.

I have sent him an email and await a reply. Will update the thread once I've had a reply.

Can't believe I'm the only person that's faced this issue, so hopefully it might prove useful to others if I can find out the answer.

Not had a reply from Andy, so no progress on suitable air-springs as yet.

One thing I have noticed is that if I enter the VIN number in the audi.7zap.com website, it says the number is not found.
It would be useful if some other forum members could check their VIN numbers and see if the site recognises them.

I haven't completed this myself but did search this forum for how to info and downloaded the workshop manual from Erwin Audi to try and understand the procedure. I was looking to buy an A6 which needed this doing. Didn't buy the car in the end and so never completed the task. Just wanted to put that up front! I can only pass on what I've read, having not actually done this myself. Not yet at least. I am still tempted by an A6 Allroad!

Anyway, this may or may not help. If nothing else be thankful you don't have to knock out a pinch bolt and wrestle control arms off! Rear air springs might just be a bit easier.

First then jacking mode essential. Don't need to disconnect battery. OBD11 unlikely to be of help here. You'll need VCDS to pressurise/de pressurise air springs or recalibrate if needed.

The procedure, appended from Erwin manual, in brief:
    1. Lift vehicle
    2.Bleed system
    3.Remove wheel
4.insert spreader between body frame and upper transverse link
5.Slacken wheel housing liner bolt and move lining to one side
6.Unscrew air pipe to dissipate air
    7.Compress air spring by hand
8.Slacken bolt in bottom of airspring 5-6 turns. Then use socket to push up on bolt and push air spring out of trapezium link
9.Remove bolt completely and compress and remove airspring
    10. Clean trapezium link points
    11. Fit new airspring
    12.Charge system
    13.Fit wheel
    14. Stand vehicle on wheels

    Good luck
