Audi A4 TDI CVT not engaging

Hey all, My GF has a 2012 Audi A4 TDI CVT. I have told her there is something not right about the gears, but I think she is simply used to it and see no issue, but today I was in PAris, heading back to the UK, and on exiting a car park I had to go up a ramp, I released the brake and the car started to rev and didnt engage a gear for several seconds, and of course when it did we wheel spun up the ramp.

This has happend alot over the last few months, and it makes pulling away at a roundabout difficult because it may not be in gear so you just end up reving. Seems the only way to make it work is to release the throttle and let it gently pul away on its own before using the accelerator, though even this sometimes does nothing.

Any ideas at all?
