I just had a new clutch and recon gearbox fitted to my 1.4L 2012 petrol VW polo to fix a noise which turned out to be the input shaft bearing. Ended up paying ~£1500.

When I bring the clutch to the biting point in first or reverse it starts to judder. I took it back to the mechanic who went for a run with me and said it’s normal for a new clutch because, compared to the old one, it’s more “grippy”.

I never had any judder with the old clutch. Is this normal or should I be pushing for it to be looked at properly?

    Thanks in advance.

New clutches only judder if there is something wrong and it is not going to go away in my experience. We need some more info such as a list of the parts used including make and part number but I know you think you have spent a lot but to me £1500 is way too cheap for the job to be done correctly. Also we need the cars VIN.
