Have the head off my Rok again, this time EGR cooler gone again after 4 years and now the head is scrap. When I rebuilt the engine 4 years ago, every bolt etc was renewed and I replaced the vacuum pump gasket with the same type that was fitted oem from the two that were supplied in the elring head set. After a short run I had a fairly big leak which turned out to be from the vac pump to head gasket. I replaced with a VW item as per parts # which was the same pattern as the Oem obviously. What found was that the gasket passes over a screw drilling on the pump body effectively preventing a seal. I had to bodge with rtv to get a seal (it still wept). I wondered if there is another explanation why the gasket isnt routed to avoid the screw hole?? I've got to put it back together again and I'd like to do it properly if its possible?
