We had a T5 where injectors 3&4 blew out because the bolt snapped. This was REALLY annoying because the engine was a £5700 of brand new VW exchange unit from TPS that managed less than 100 miles before this failure. The bolt for injectors 1&2 was also loose, appalling quality control by VW and we found three other garages locally which had experienced the same problem.

Thanks for the info, the shaking is quite pronounced from the floor or you can feel it shuddering quite bad under your seat, also there isn't any check engine lights at all.... wouldn't a bad or leaking injector throw a light or code?

Ok after complete clutch replacement including flywheel it is still doing it, so the traction control light and ABS light have been intermittently staying on, now they think the sensors are at fault, with the traction control system constantly trying to adjust while accelerating causing the shaking.... sounds plausible to me! They checked and double checked the injectors which seem to be fine.

A duff sensor can make the ESP interfere, I have seen it a few times with rusty wheel bearings magnetic rings. Logging and studying the wheel speed values whilst it is acting up could be helpful.

That's exactly what the tech said.... recommends changing the wheel bearings too. Parts are on order, will let you all know the outcome in a week or so... thanks!

I've been meaning to update this thread for folks who've been have this sneaky issue but I couldn't remember or find which site it was on! It turns out it WAS in fact the injectors, I had to completely replace one and rebuild the other three, also all new seals and copper seats. At least I bit the bullet and put in a new clutch and flywheel which were also definitely on their last legs and rectified the constant ABS/EMS light on the dash as well....

I should add that it was only after I INSISTED they pull the injectors to test them that the DEALER actually followed through, they seemed adamant that since their bigtime computer wasn't showing anything to do with injectors it couldn't possibly be that..... sigh

They are the local VW dealer here in Belize, they sell a bunch of different brands so VW is only a small part, but they DO have the expensive diagnostics....

This is such a sneaky insidious issue that they actually believed it was a faulty flywheel that had been installed.... and were ready to put in another at their cost!!!! If you have never experienced it, well it really DOES feel drivetrain related. All I can say is if anyone has these symptoms described above, it's almost positive it's the injectors whether bad injector or bad seals etc....
