    Default Allroad TDI Engine Fault light and Limp-home mode – 17-02-2023,01:52 PM
    My A4 Allroad 2.0tdi 2015 was running well with only obvious fault being the parking sensors not working, about which fault I am not immediately concerned. I changed my oil and filter filling up with what I reckoned to be the right quantity of new longlife oil. I also changed the air filter.
    The car ran well for about 60 mls then the oil warning lamp illuminated. I stopped and topped up.
    That all may be co-incidental. The car ran well for another 200 mls over a couple of days then, yesterday after a gentle 25ml journey and a stop, when I restarted after an hour, the amber 'coil' warning light appeared and also the engine management light and the car displayed reduced power which I guessed to be 'limp home mode'.
    I drove gently home and today have scanned with vcds. I show the scan below.
    Are these error codes suggestive of sooted up particulate filter or failed sensor or what?

    I have not yet tried clearing the faults.

    A common fault with these engines is the reductant injector dribbling and this causes a buildup of urea crystals in the SCR unit which becomes blocked. We take the injector off and use an endoscope to check for white crystal buildup.

    Thanks Crasher. Sadly, my investigation will be delayed till I return from a long road trip to Austria and back for which I shall have to use my partner's 2010 A4 tdi which has about 220k miles on the clock now. It is pre adblue so this is a problem which will not hold us up in that car.

    In case anyone was interested, this was resolved with a replacement turbo boost sensor.
