I have a few niggles to resolve on my Monte Carlo. I don't expect to keep the car for long, but would like to resolve issues so that there is no comeback and the next owner doesn't have the headache that I did...

    1. The idle speed doesn't always drop to below 800rpm when the pedal is released, also the car wants to drive forward at slow speeds when the pedal is released to slow down. This seems to be the pedal position sensor, which often reports a 1.2% normalised position, but will drop to 0 if I physically lift the pedal. It seems to get stuck and is quite likely to be the fault. I will report back once the replacement is fitted.

    2. P2002 keeps plaguing me. Most likely this is due to the DPF damage that I had patched up previously, but also possibly an EGR issue. No other codes. I have a replacement DPF ready to be fitted and an EGR to test for suitability, when these are on, I will report back.

    3. The ECU software status 8829. Seemingly later revisions made improvements to the car in terms of efficiency and driveability, I have searched for someone near me to be able to flash the ECU to a later revision, but no-one seems to be able to do this, so I have sourced a unit that has 9971 installed as standard. I will attempt an ECU swap to see if this improves this any.

If anyone has any comments or tips to share, that would be appreciated, before I start work.

    Many thanks

The ECU will need matching to the dash/immobiliser so it will be easier to get the original re-flashed at a Skoda dealer or VAG indi equipped with ODIS and GEKO security clearance.

The accelerator pedal has now been replaced and the idle speed settles back to where it should do now. I had a look at the potentiometer tracks and there might have been wear or dirt attributing to this, but it's now consistently reading 0% normalised when the pedal is released.

The car does still seem to not 'let off the gas' when slowing down and it feels like the car is on part throttle going into corners. I don't know what this might be, but I've still to fit the DPF and EGR valve. If the valve is original, it is likely to have a blocked or partially blocked cooler.
