There is a flat 6 certainly in the Forrester and Legacy. Now you mention it not sure if it is in an Impreza.

Subaru's flat six is on the 3.0 which is in the Legacy. The new and old forrester only has the 2.5 flat 4.

Yep the Forrester I think is based on the Impreza, I stand very much corrected.

I wasn't trying to undermine your great knowledge, i just thought i'd have a look and put down what I found.

It must be the sweet tune of the scooby flat 4 that tingles your bones as does mine.

I saw the R8 and S5 at Goodwood Festival of Speed this year.

    I wanted/want both of them.

    imagine the scene,

your driving down the road with SWMBO and she's chattering 10 to the dozen and in your rear view mirror you spy a forrester, then you interrupt her (risky at the best of times) wind down the window and say as the forrester passes, 'just listen to that forrester'.

It doesnt have quite the same ring to is as 'listen to that ferrari'

We all know that we(men) don't really listen anyway.
this is the reason: they're on a different wavelength, metaphorically
and physically speaking. So when said Forrester - or maybe scooby nips past - we simply wind down the window and listen to it woosh past.

Now - at this point the better half, enquires "why have you wound down the window?"
"erm, to listen to the blue car"
"were you not listening to me then?
    "yes, sort of"

damn these cars with great sounding engines.

hmm i feel gr8ful that my bloke and i both go 'ooooo' at the cars together and 4get completely that we were argueing about whether his 'short cut' was infact better than the tom-tom, while the stupid sat nav rambles on in the background about making a u-turn.

The Mondy sounds incredible, really it does, my mate owns a 1970 Dodge Charger and he also has a Forrester.

I love the sound off all of them, if I am honest I do prefer the Mondial's V8 at 7800rpm, but the Charger and Forrester sound bloody gorgeous too
