I have a 2011 Fabia Monte Carlo and it has never had a software upgrade.

As the emissions fix appears to be free, is it worth having done, as presumably the update would include all previous revisions that might well improve the car in some way?

I understand that the work has a warranty period, so I would potentially have some cover for the couple of years that I intend to keep the car.

I hear you, but are there any worthwhile improvements that have been made is the software since the car was first built? The software updates would not have been rolled out if there were no need to iron out niggles and provide at least some quality of life improvements. I did hear, but have had no qualified explanation that the latest update before the NOX fix, would actually be a good idea.

If the EA189 NOX fix is just a patch file, then it is probably not worthwhile, but if it contains all previous updates, then there might be a benefit. Having spoken with Skoda, they wanted £94 plus VAT to upgrade the software (apparently a ten minute job), but the NOX fix is free and if they are essentially the same thing, I might even benefit from a small warranty period for the DPF and EGR.

Seriously, run. Don't have this software cludge done, you will regret it.

If someone asks me to do the EA189 update, which I can, I refuse.
